Remembering to give a bit of TLC to your handcrafted jewelry will go a long way in keeping your treasured pieces beautiful and bright. The first thing to keep in mind is that handcrafted jewelry should be worn and stored with care. Exposure to chemicals and abrasive environments can cause permanent damage such as oxidation and scratching. To the left are five simple preventative guidelines. (Click on image to enlarge)

To keep your jewelry clean, a bit of mild liquid detergent added to warm water creates a gentle cleaning solution versatile enough to clean and care for the majority of handcrafted jewelry made with silver, glass beads, crystal beads, and semi-precious stones. If cleaned regularly, a damp microfiber cloth will do the job effectively, often without requiring a cleaning solution at all. It should be noted that pearls should ONLY be cleaned with warm water and a soft cloth. Be sure to gently pat your jewelry dry, once clean.

Following these guidelines will keep your jewelry looking shiny and new so that you can enjoy the fine craftsmanship and beauty of your wearable art every time you put it on.
